Blogging Tip of the Day: Vol. 12

Today's Blogging Tip: Have you ever considered a remake of yourself? One of the most amusing stories in the music industry is that of Jethro Tull. I mean we all know who Jethro Tull is, but did you know that at one time they were so un-liked that they had to change the band name almost every week just to get gigs? Yep, this is true, and then one week after choosing the name "Jethro Tull" out of the local newspaper, BANG, they made it. That's how they got such a silly name.

Now I am not suggesting that you change your blog name, your name, or the names of your children, but I am saying that looking at everything along the way, can improve your popularity. There are people on G+ for example that just change their names every few weeks to get people to notice them again. If your name alone doesn't attract attention, then maybe it creates apathy, for whatever reason. If you know you write good, or post great content and for whatever reason it isn't being looked at, how about just changing to your nickname? John Smith could change his name to "Smitty" if that's what his friends have been calling him his whole life anyway. It's comfortable, and might "trick" an apathetic viewer into reading your content and falling in love with it.

This happens with a blog rename as well. For about 8 years everyone knew me as JeremyCrow4Life. By everyone I mean almost nobody. Way back when it was a huge brand of sorts in the blogging world, but it just slowly died to nothing. I changed everything around to the Whacko format, separated my 1000+ entries of writing into several smaller blogs, and VIOLA! I came on stronger than ever, re-energized and far more ready to take on my day as a writer. I may have shed the last few readers I had, I may not have, but I needed to start over for the better. This isn't for everyone but trust me, life goes on, if you live it!
