Blogging Tip of the Day: Vol. 94

Today's Tip: Some people may tell you that blogging is for the most insane among us, whether you are someone who writes blogs or someone who reads blogs. I am here to tell you that there is one huge difference and it comes in the form of the most popular sayings for what insanity is. "Insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting different results." Now you will have to trust me on this one but as a blogger you can do the same things over and over again and get dramatically different results.

This doesn't mean you do the same blog every day and expect it to be more popular every time. I assure you the dramatically different results will be nobody reading BUT if you take this outlook on a year to year basis then you have something. For example a year from now you will probably have a 90% turn over on your readership. The new folks probably haven't heard your brilliant concepts on marketing or engineering widgets and is often the case they haven't gone back into your archives to read about it either.

Now don't let any of what I just wrote scare you. A certain level of insanity is a very important part of being a blogger. The two types of readers that are your bread and butter "those that relate" and "those that live vicariously through you" both seem to like a bit of crazy in what they read. It's just the insanity that us bloggers seem to portray is a little different than the run of the mill crazy that the great philosophers talked about. Probably why we blog.
